Following on from our recent post about the Perils of Plus Four, we’ve had an email from one of our regular readers and customers (We’ll call her ‘N’ for now).
Basically, N followed our suggestion of visiting a store and trying on a bra based on the bra calculator they offer on their website (where you take a series of underbust and overbust measurements and add four inches to determine your bra size). Conventional size calculators/charts give N a 34D (measurements 29″ underbust, 38½” overbust). This is how she looked in a …

We’ve discussed the subject of bra fitting on many occasions here on the Brastop blog – from how to go about properly measuring yourself, to how to get fitted and invest in bras that conform to your body size and shape.
The importance of proper bra fitting can never be overstated or under-emphasised – for health reasons, comfort reasons, your posture, your well-being, self-confidence – and, let’s not forget, your purse can suffer if you waste money on bras that don’t fit.
However, far too many people still rely on the “plus …

I’m particularly looking forward to seeing this report from Which Magazine, that highlights something very close to our hearts at Brastop; poor bra fitting and sizing advice.
In its ‘Bra fitting? No it isn’t’ report, due out in December, the consumer magazine sent 11 individuals varying from age 25-75 who were a DD cup or bigger to a number of high street stores and found that fewer than one in three of the 70 surveyed made the grade in terms of providing correct fitting/sizing advice – and none of them were …

Curvy Kate Emily Bra
Last week we covered variety of sizes in the Freya Deco bra, comparing and contrasting the look, feel and fit of a classic, hugely popular bra.
This week, we’re looking at another best seller and a firm favourite with the Brastop Blog: the Curvy Kate Emily balconette bra.
The Emily is very much a “classic” bra in the traditional sense, supportive underwires, lace-mesh with a comfortable, uplifting finish to give a flattering fit and a striking look. It’s often described as a “vintage” looking bra – a touch of …

We’re continuing our feature from last week where we demonstrated the differences in shape, size and fit of lots of different women wearing the same Curvy Kate Tease Me bra.
This week, we’re looking at the Freya Deco bra in several of it’s incarnations and several of the girls in the big cup community have provided us with photos of them wearing one of the Deco styles, in a variety of sizes.
As before, it’s important to note the emphasis on fitting – in these sizes, which range from 28DD to 36GG.
As before, …

Something we’ve always been keen to emphasise here on the Brastop Blog is the importance of proper fitting – ie. making sure that women are wearing the correct bra for their size and body shape.
A well-fitting bra is important for all sorts of reasons, top of which is your own personal comfort and well-being – but also for durability of the product, health reasons – and, the effect the bra has on your shape and posture.
Over the past few days, we approached a number of girls in our bra enthusiast …

Do you remember Busts4Justice? Only a few short years ago, they were involved in a very high profile campaign against the unfair Marks & Spencer ‘Bra Tax’ policy of charging more money for bigger-sized bras – and they won.
M&S subsequently admitted they had ‘boobed’ with the policy and amended all of the pricing on their bras so that you paid the same whether you were a 34A or a 36JJ. Our very own Becky Mount was part of the campaign and still battles for fair pricing and more breadth of …

I found an article by Treacle on The Lingerie Addict that I feel I need to take some issue with.
It centres around the much-touted statistic that suggests 85% of women are wearing the wrong bra size – a stat that Treacle found in a recent Debenhams press release and feels is either erroneous or misleading. The point Treacle makes is that the emphasis always seems to be on women wearing the wrong size of bra, and not on the importance of wearing a well-fitting one (to me, they’re the same …

Earlier in the year I blogged about the issue of the moment, that apparently boobs are getting bigger, an issue which I’m quite passionate about as it highlights both the increase in and need for education about fitting, but before I start ranting and raving once again, here’s our lovely resident fitter Glenda Hudson in Real People magazine!
If it were up to us, our Glenda would have a whole page where she could talk about the importance of a correct fitting bra and the apparent inability for the majority of …

No, really! What bra size are you? I really want to hear your stories about how you came to know your bra size! Where were you measured? Where is good to go to be measured? Where are the bad places to go?
A friend of mine told me she was wearing a 38D bra. I knew that wasn’t right so I measured her … she was a 32G! Can you believe that? The difference in her shape and posture was unbelievable, you can imagine the confidence boost it gave her too.
What …
