Brits spending more on lingerie than the FrenchWould you say you're spending more money on lingerie these days? I know I do - well, I certainly spend more money on bras than I used to, but I'm not so sure about 'lingerie' (as in sexy bedroom wear). According to Mimi Spencer of The Times, British women are spending more money than our French counterparts, who traditionally love their lingerie. UK underwear sales grew by 40 per cent in the decade to 2009, with British women spending an average £71 a year on news lingerie, compared to £70 per year in France. There's also been an explosion of choice in thep ast 10 years, from brands like Bravissimo and La Senza to a massive increase in competition on the high street between the big stores like Debenhams and Marks & Spencer. However, it's estimated that the UK women's underwear market, currently worth £3.4 billion a year, will decline by 1.2 per cent this year due to the recession, and not necessarily due to choice or availability. So, do you reckon you're spending more on lingerie these days, or do you spend just about the same (or less) as before? Let us know in the comments below. Who's best if you've got big breasts?Following on from their recent feature on how the high street stores measured up when it comes to sizing bras, The Sun newspaper has published another feature in the wake of the Marks & Spencer 'bra tax' story, this time sizing up the best value for money if you're looking for a D+ cup size bra.Model India Madeleine, a 32D, went around several high street stores, including M&S, House of Fraser, Primark, Next, Bravissimo, La Senza, John Lewis and Debenhams. The cheapest bra on offer was a 34DD Primark bra at £6, which rated poorly, along with low marks for John Lewis - while Debenhams and M&S recieved good marks for quality. Next also rated well, but House of Fraser was bottom of the bra pile. The most interesting aspect of the survey was the comparison of quality over price; not one of the highly-rated bras cost less than £12 (with the exception of the M&S bra, which was on a special discount). Once again, if they had paid a visit to Brastop.com, they would have found both quality and value in any of our range!
