Bratabase - a database of bra sizes compared![]() A few days ago, I found a fascinating website called Bratabase, produced by a young South Amiercan chap, which seeks to help you find the right bra by comparing sizes among other brands or designs, giving you a better idea on what to get or what bra may fit you better. The basic idea is that you measure your current bra (or bras) and add them to the database, and the bra can instantly be compared to several other bras that are already in the system - thereby providing you with a fairly accurate alternative to your current bra. It's actually quite clever, and a very functional, well-designed website. Hopefully, it'll take off and build as a useful resource for finding that perfect bra. Dear Chloe: I spill out of every bra I own, please help! Do you sometimes find that even though you're wearing the correct size of bra, maybe the style of bra just doesn't do the job of holding you in properly?Well, this 'Dear Chloe' letter below from Lisa addresses that very subject, with some advice from me on what she should do to avoid the dreaded 'spillage'... Dear Chloe,Dear Lisa, thank-you for your email. If you're spilling out over the top of your bra, there's a good chance that you could be wearing the wrong cup size, or - you may need to think about trying a more full cup bra. I'm guessing that you possibly prefer balconette or plunge bras, which, if you're quite full in the cup, might cause the kind of spillage you're referring to. Every woman differs from size to size, and while full cup bras don't always suit low cut tops or dresses, there's loads of new styles that you can make work with your outfit. I would recommend any of the Curvy Kate bras on the Brastop website, as they're both stylish and comfortable. The Curvy Kate models go up to a J cup, and prove that you can be very full in the cup and still wear a balconette style of bra, letting you wear a low cut top or dress without showing your bra. Freya bras are also good in balconette styles (and they're among the best quality bras you can buy), and I would personally recommend the Tango II plunge bra from Panache. It's very supportive - loads of curvy girls wear it, including me - and it really is an amazing, comfy and fashionable bra. Kind regards, Chloe. Don't forget, if you have a lingerie-related problem or question, send it to hannah@brastop.com and she'll forward it to me. The best ones get posted on the website - and the star question wins a free bra set from Brastop.com - just like Lisa! Labels: advice, big bras, bra, comfort, dear chloe, spillage, suggestions, tips

NEW Freya & Fantasie D-J Bras - HALF PRICE !![]() Labels: bra, brastop, deal of the day, deal of the week, fantasie, freya, hot deal, newsletter, offers Triumph invent the golf bra?![]() Following on from their 'Husband Hunter bra', Triumph International has now created a bra that can transform into a golf putting green. The green corset-style garment can be removed and unrolled to create a 1.5m-long golf putting mat. The owner can then putt a golf ball into one of the cups, and a built-in speaker plays out a voice saying "Nice shot!". The bra also features pockets for extra golf balls and tees, and a detachable flag pin that serves as a score pencil, plus a skirt with the words "Be Quiet" printed on the rear, which doubles up as a flag for use on the course. After my review of sports bras, I think this one has maybe gone a bit too far...

Monday morning mayhem - Chinese 'inflatable' braThis should help brighten up your Monday morning... I'm not entirely sure what's going on in this advertisement video from China, but I'm fairly sure it has something to do with a "miracle" bra that inflates at the pull of a lever (or press of a button, or pull of a string) causing your boobs to subsequently increase in size - somewhat dramatically, if the video is to be believed. I can't even be sure if it's real or a spoof - but it certainly seems to be making headlines. I not sure I even need something like this (I'm big enough, thank-you very much) - I've done the whole Wonderbra/Ultrabra/Ultimo thing, and it just doesn't look right on me. Still, it would make for a good party piece.... Labels: bra, humour, innovation, novelty

La Decollette - the anti-wrinkle bra? You've heard of anti-wrinkle cream, right? It's the sort of stuff cosmetics companies flog by the bucketload to women (and men) who desperately want to fight the effects of ageing. Well, now a Dutch company called La Decollette has started marketing an anti-wrinkle bra called the Sleeping Beauty. Even after reading all the publicity material on this revolutionary item, I'm still not totally sure of exactly what it's supposed to do. Apparently, "during the night, the anti-wrinkle bra does a very effective job by keeping your cleavage smooth. After just 1 night you will be stunned by the amazing results, all without expensive creams or surgeries." I'm not even sure what it looks like, but if the picture above is anything to go by, it looks like a flimsy racing top put on backwards. And it costs 50 Euro. If you really want to hold back wrinkles, you would do well to live a reasonably healthy lifestyle - don't smoke, eat plenty of fruit and veg, drink loads of water - and use moisturiser if you feel you need to. As for wearing a bra at night - sometimes it can help reduce sagging if you wear something light, like a non-underwired soft-material bra - but be wary of the associated risks of wearing a bra for too prolonged a time (especially when sleeping). You'll end up with weal marks on your shoulders and back - and run the risk of restricting blood flow. Do what I do - wear a snug vest-top to bed under your pyjamas. It's much more comfortable - and won't cost you 50 Euro.

The $3million bra from Victoria's Secret Have you got $3million to spare? If so, you might want to think about splashing out on the new bra designed for Victoria's Secret by Damiani. It features a rare 16-carat heart-shaped, brown-yellow diamond pendant, and surrounding the jewel are cognac-colored diamonds. The weight of the entire bra totals nearly 150 carats (although, I'm not sure what it weighs in pounds). I wonder if it comes in 32FF...?

Goodbye hooks, hello magnets?I don't know about anyone else, but I tend to put my bra on backwards (ie. I hook it at the front, the work it around to the back before putting everything in place and pulling up the straps), as it's easier to fasten the array of hooks you tend to find on bigger cup bras. Taking my bra off isn't so much of a problem (well, if it's me doing the taking off, that is), but over the years, I've I've consigned countless bras to the bottom of the bra drawer (I hate chucking them out) all because one little hook has come off or bent so wildly out of shape that it's no longer usable. I tried a few front-fastening bras years ago, and it just didn't work for me. Not for the fact that a front-fastening Gossard Ultrabra I spent £30 on once decided to pop-open while I was at the cinema with my then boyfriend (we were watching, of all things, The Full Monty). Well, now a bra design that relies on magnets, not hooks, has made an appearance on the market. Made by La Vie En Rose, the bra has two little magnets in the front fastener that hold the two cups in place, although, it's only available in Canada for now. Apparently, it can withstand all manner of jiggling and movement (although, I wouldn't count on avoiding a detailed search at the airport, which might prove a slight disadvantage). Wonderbra has also released a similar bra, with magnetic hooks that hold the straps in place - but they're part of the Dita Von Teese range, and tend not to come in larger sizes. Despite my frustration at the hook-and-eye style of fastener, I think I would prefer to stick with the tried and tested mode of holding my boobs in place - and I don't fancy the idea of spoons suddenly flying in my direction when I sit down to dinner.. Remember the Doodle Bra? Do you remember the Doodle Bra from a few months ago?Sure you do - it was a plain white bra that comes with it's own set of washable pens, to let you draw whatever you want on the cups (for whatever reason that might be). Well, Lily Quaterman of The Frisky decided to buy herself one and give it a go - in fact, by her own admission, she's become obsessed with it. The thing is, Lily failed to realise that a 34D was never going to contain her ladybumps, and it turns out the guys aren't all that into bras with doodles on them... Massage bra promises enhanced figure We like a bit of humour here at the Brastop blog, and the Magic Massage Bra guarantees at least to raise a smile. This is an A-cup bra featuring an MP3 player and a massage system that, according to the product description, "can stimulate female?s breast, accelerate blood circulation and activate cell renewal and hormone secretion through physical massage with forceful vibration". I think I'll stick with my iPhone and a regular self-checkup. [Via: Geek] Labels: bra, humour, invention, technology

Review: Kalyani Amaze Me bra set Bra: Kalyani Amaze Me bra set.Product description: A balconette Bra in striking flower print with contrasting intertwined ribbon structured in balconette cups, with matching briefs. My size: 32FF and 14 briefs. Fit: all too often, we tend to think of our bras as something practical; ie. something that holds our boobs in place without too much discomfort and lets us get on with our lives. More recently, I've been starting to think of my bras as something fun; something I enjoy putting on and wearing - and something that makes me feel good about myself. Well, this Kalyani Amaze Me bra does just that. It's a snug-fitting bra with generous cups, especially for a balconette bra. Materials: a good mixture of cotton, elastane and Lycra, with sturdy underwire. The cups have an interwoven trim with decorative effect. (One point worth noting is that the cups are not double-lined, but the material is still very strong and firm). Comfort: There's not much in the way of stretch or give in the cups, which I thought might be a problem - but it's very snug-fitting, so make sure you get the correct size, or it could end up restricting you, or leaving you with gaps at the top or bottom of the cups. The thing I noticed about this bra was a very firm, contoured shape to my bust when it was all fitted neatly in place. I've worn it on numerous occasions, for up to 15 hours at a time, and I barely noticed it was on. Occasion: being of the pretty colour/pattern variety, this is probably the kind of bra you would wear on a night out, but I've worn it to work and for all sorts of other occasions, so it'll suit most events. However, being dark and heavily-patterned, it would be sensible not to wear it under something lightweight or lightly coloured, unless you're fond of showing off your underwear. The briefs: made of similar material to the bra and very comfortable - and they match perfectly. No complaints regarding prolonged wear - although, they're quite high cut, so if you prefer a slimmer cut brief or thong, maybe the matching set isn't for you. Value: as with the Curvy Kate range, this is a quality-made bra set. It feels sturdy and durable, without feeling over-done. Plus, as I said earlier, it feels like a fun bra to wear and would be an ideal treat for yourself or a gift for a friend (or, guys - if you're reading, and we know you are - this would be ideal for your partner if you find out her correct size). Price: bra £14.95, briefs: £7.95. Total: £22.90. Available in sizes 28FF-38FF. Labels: balconette, balcony, bra, kaylani, review, underwire, underwired

M&S Agree to drop the Bra Tax!Congratulations to everyone Busts 4 Justice after their high-profile campaign to shame top high street store Marks & Spencers into dropping the ridiculous and discriminatory bra tax surchage of £2 on all large cup size bras, which they applied because bigger bras apparently cost more to make (something they don't apply to shoes, or bigger dresses).Campaigner Beckie Williams, founder of Facebook group (and a 30G herself), was so infuriated by the policy that she bought a share in M&S with the intention of confronting chairman Sir Stuart Rose at the next annual general meeting in July. She won her battle as Marks & Spencer has now admitted the mistake and promised one price would fit all. "We've heard what our customers are telling us that they are unhappy with the pricing on our DD-plus bras and that basically we've boobed," said a Marks and Spencer spokesperson. "So from Saturday May 9 no matter what size you buy, the price is going to be the same. "We're not going to cut the quality though - they'll still be made to the same high standards so you get the best support on the high street." More than 11,000 people joined the Facebook group Busts 4 Justice which said Marks & Spencer was putting a £2 surcharge on bras with a cup size larger than double-D. Of course, the cynical side of me says it was all a big ploy on Marks & Spencers' part in the first place, but at least they've done the right thing and reversed it. Get measured! The Sun newspaper went along with Ultimo Bra tycoon Michelle Mone, models Kate Green and Lucy Clarkson to Debenhams on Monday in a bid to raise awareness about wearing the correct bra size. This is a subject very close to our hearts here at Brastop (literally!), and we can't encourage our customers enough to make the effort and find out their correct bra size. Wearing the proper size of bra will benefit you in so many ways; from your health, to your well-being and your posture, shape and confidence. And, when you've determined your correct size, if you feel like treating yourself to an Ultimo bra, we have some on offer right now priced as low as £9.95. Brastop supports Moonwalker Carrie Chagri![]() All of the participants in the Moonwalk receive a bra from Playtex as part of their sponsorship pack for participating in the 26.2 mile power walk. However, unfortunately for Carrie, Playtex don't offer her size (36J) in the packs, and she would have been required to compete in the walk without a suitable bra. So, Carrie contacted us here at Brastop to ask if we would be able to help her out. Now, it's not normal for us to hand out bras like this (so please don't inundate us with requests!), but Carrie had already started her fundraising campaign via Just Giving, and we thought it would be disappointing for her to have to walk all that distance without some decent support (if you'll pardon the pun). So, we've decided to send her a gorgeous Panache Tango bra in white to help her on her way. As Carrie said to us in her email, breast cancer doesn't discriminate against breast size, and affects women of all shapes and sizes. She's a young mum and just wants to do her part to help people who are suffering. If you feel like helping Carrie out with her fundraising target of £300 (she's currently at £130), visit her Just Giving page and make a difference.

Fox Chicago is reporting on a Detroit woman in her 60s who was shot during an invasion by robbbers to her home, but the bullet hit the underwire of her bra, slowing it down and leaving her with only minor injuries. Ah, bras - is there anything they can't do? Reader tip: jiggle while you wear![]() Well, here's a small tip on a simple way to get comfortable after you've fastened yourself up and adjusted everything: When putting on your bra, fasten it then lean forward at the waist and give a little jiggle from side-to-side. Spring Sale - £10 or less - everything must go!Our Spring Sale still is still on at Brastop.com and you can pick up a bargain if you get over to the website quickly.Everything in our clearance section is £10 or less - with some bras as cheap as £8.97 - but you'll need to hurry - stocks are running out fast! *Remember, there's no returns on items in this sale. More lingerie innovation: the reversible braHere's an idea I never thought I'd see, but which really seems obvious when you take the time to think about it: the reversible bra.Apart from the fact that most bras need the material in the cups shaped, there's really no obvious reason preventing something like this from working - particularly with t-shirt/plunge-style bras. The bra retails for $30 (about £20 in real money). However, we're back to the Doodle Bra again, with an idea that really only works if you're planning on the bra being the only item you intend to wear... ...and I'm not entirely convinced about the fastener on the polka dot-patterned bra - it looks like the sort of thing that would come unhelpfully undone after a moderately-sized slice of strawberry cheesecake. Labels: bargain, big bras, bra, fantasie, hot deal, strapless The Doodle Bra - a bra you can draw onAre you bored with the standard patterns and colours of bras on offer on the high street?Well, why not liven things up with the Doodle Bra? For $15 (about £10) you get a crisp white bra in sizes ranging from 30AA to 42DD along with six non-toxic markers, and you can start drawing whatever you like on the cups. The ink from the markers is washable so you can draw on the bra over and over again, and there are three stencils in each pack along with an idea booklet. It's a novel idea, but I can't think of a practical application for it (other than drawing on the bras to auction them off for charity?). Not that I can draw to any degree of competency, but I just can't see myself going out on a night out with only my illustrated bra on... [Via: Fab Sugar]

How does the 'perfect bra' hold up?![]() At $45 (almost £30), it's not exactly perfectly cheap, but it promises to "shape, smooth and support" via a unique front cross-over design and foam padding inserts - although, Ellen admits to regularly wearing bras that normally feel like a tourniquet around her chest, so it sounds like this one was a welcome relief. She was happy to report an improved shape, but found the stitching a bit irritating (she had to file it down with an emery board) and the underwire wouldn't settle for her. However, she was happy with the padding, and says the Perfect One is a step in the right direction - but it's not quite perfect yet. Unfortunately, it's also unavailable in my size, 32FF, so the genuises who designed it probably need to re-examine the meaning of the word 'perfect'. Money in bra saves Brazilian woman's lifeIf you're out one sunny afternoon this summer with a nice strappy dress on and find yourself struggling for somewhere to stash your cash, try hiding it in your bra.It might just save your life, as it did with Ivonete Pereira, a 58-year-old Brazilian woman from Salvador, the capital of the northeastern state of Bahia. Ivonete was shot in the chest by one of two attackers who tried to rob the bus she was on. But she was saved by coiled notes worth 150 reals (around £45) tucked away inside the left side of her bra. Ms Pereira had stowed the cash away as she knew the buses were a repeat target for robbers. She had been travelling to her summer home in the nearby town of Lauro de Freitas when the bus passed through the Boca do Rio neighborhood, and the robbers attacked: A shootout ensued with a police officer on the scene, during which a stray bullet hit Ms Pereira.Who says bras are only useful for holding your boobs in place? Hot deal: Freya Arabella bra price comparisonIf you don't believe that Brastop.com is the best place to get hot deals on DD+ size bras, then look again. The truth about your bra size? The New York Times has an interesting article about the social change that has arrived with increasing bra sizes. It continues the earlier themes here on the Brastop blog about the prevelance for bigger bust sizes, and postulates some theories on why cup sizes, in particular, are increasing - including when Oprah Winfrey devoted an entire show on how to buy the right size bra in 2005, which apparently led to an increase in the number of women seeking correct bra fitting. It also discusses the stereotype associated with women who wear DD+ bra - which is the part I found most interesting; exactly when did it happen that a DD (or bigger) became synonymous with 'big boobs'? Especially given that a D cup is pretty much now the average bra size... [Via: Business Insider]

Review: Curvy Kate Emily Balconette Bra in cream/blueBra: Curvy Kate Emily Balconette Bra in cream/blue.Product description: a semi-sheer mesh bra printed with a contrast floral motif and embellished with bows at the straps and central gore. Available up to J cup fitting at Brastop.com. My size: 32FF bra and 14 shorts. Fit: As I've said in my previous review of the Portia Curvy Kate bra, balconette bras are my favourite style and this one was another perfect fit from the Curvy Kate range. It's comprised of slightly more delicate fabric than the Portia bra and some of the other bras in the range. At first, I thought this bra would be more suited to wearing under a special outfit, such as something you might wear to a wedding. However, I wore it all day to work on Monday, and it was certainly suitable for everyday use. The cups are cut slightly lower than most other balcony bras, so it would suit you more if you prefer a little more cleavage showing, but otherwise it was comfortable and a snug fit. Materials: as before, this bra is made of good, strong quality polyamide and Elastane. It feels lightweight and the blue satin ribbon trim gives it a nice contrasting look. The double-lined cups are firm, but flexible. Colour: semi-sheer cream with blue detail, which tones nicely with your skin and won't show through on a lightly coloured top. Comfort: I wore the set all day to work and it felt similar to the Portia bra. The only variation was the lower cut in the cups, but I soon got used to the modified shape. Occasion: this would be ideal for wearing under delicate clothes or during warmer, summer weather - or under a special outfit at a wedding or a party. The shorts: the fabric on the shorts is much lighter on these briefs, so there tends to be slightly more slip in them than the Portia set. I would say they would probably tend to work better under a lightweight skirt. Value: the full set was another bargain from Brastop. It looks and feels comfortable on, and would be ideal if you feel like a lightweight alternative to more practical bra sets. Price: Bra £15.95, shorts £5.05 Total: £21. This particular Curvy Kate Bra is available from Brastop.com now. Interview with a Brastop model: Laura Butler![]() Laura Butler from Birmingham sent us in photos and came third in the competition, but ended up one of our regular models. Here's what she had to say about modelling, bras, and life in general: Name: Laura ButlerAge: 23 Height: 5ft 8in Vital stats: 30G/30GG-27-39 Dress size: 10 Brastop: What do you do for a living? Are you a full-time model? Laura: No I am not a full time model. I am an unqualified (going to be qualified) teacher of GCSEs (and soon to be A-level Psychology) at a school for teenagers that have been excluded from mainstream school. I love it and it completely different to modelling. It is a contrast. Brastop: Tell us how you got involved in modelling, and, specifically with Brastop. Laura: I have danced since the age of three and modelling went hand in hand with dancing so I tried it at the age of 18, although I was too busy with university so never really persued it. Then I received an email from Brastop, as I was on their mailing list, about the Star in a Bra competition. I had always wanted to model lingerie and loved their stuff, especially the prices. So I went for it and came third and now here I am... Brastop: Is it an ambition of yours to model full-time? Laura: I would not say it is an ambition of mine to model full-time, but it is definitely something I want to do often and not stop. I love it. The satisfaction of modelling is different to the satisfaction I get from teaching as it's something I do for me. I model for selfish reasons and I believe that is the key to my success with Brastop. It's not my profession or way of earning money - I do it for a love of doing it and this comes across in my pictures. Brastop: Do you have any other ambitions outside of modelling? Laura: Many. Becoming a teacher is a stepping stone for me becoming an Educational Psychologist. Teaching is something I do because I am good at it and love helping the students, but it isn't fulfilling my ambitions. I want to become a doctor to clinically help children who have suffered in their childhood and in educational needs. I am specifically interested in working with children involved in sexual abuse. Brastop: Are you specifically interested in the lingerie industry, or would you prefer to cast your experience wider into other areas of fashion? Laura: The lingerie industry is of particular interest to me, but if I had the chance to do something else too I can not say I would turn it down as it would be a personal step and progression for me. I have always wanted to be on a billboard and this will always be an ambition of mine. It has been since I was young. I love modelling in general it happens that I am suited to lingerie due to my shape and bust. Brastop: I've always wanted to ask what it's like stripping down to your underwear in front of a room full of people and posing for photos - surely it must be really nerve-wracking? Laura: I have danced since I was three and had to get changed in front of many people before. I just think that the older you get the easier it becomes. I am not a shy person in nature, so for me it doesn't faze me in the slightest. Plus, the teams are professional and have seen a thousand breasts. Mine are no different so I have never seen a reason to be nervous. Brastop: How is a typical photo-shoot managed? Presumably it's not all quick-change from one bra set to another and you get some decent privacy to change? Is it stressfull? Is it fun?Brastop: Do you get many freebies or does everything need to be handed back after a shoot? Laura: There are perks to being a lingerie model especially when things are specifically made in your size for you to model! I have saved some money as I haven?t had to buy a bra in a while! My boyfriend is pleased to say the least! Brastop: What do your friends and family think of you working as a model - specifically, in the lingerie business? Laura: I think they wonder why the opportunity never arrived before it did last year. They believe I was made for it and are happy for me. Brastop: The normal trend in the modelling industry is to go with thin models, but Brastop.com's whole ethos is about promoting larger-sized bras. Do you feel you help contribute to this aspect of the industry to promote a positive body image? Laura: Definitely. I am in proportion, natural and like 99.9% of women out there. I am not obese or overweight. I am right for my height which is perfect. I range from a size 10-16. I do not think Brastop could find a more diverse model. I am I size 10 in dresses but wear size 16 knickers! I do have body hang ups and try and live with them, but still hate them. On a shoot I threat about love handles and have the odd moan about how I don't like my big hips. I am just an average girl who happened to have the confidence and be given the opportunity to shine and try and make a contribution and difference to the modelling industry. Modelling lingerie as a product makes you have more confidence as you are in front of a camera and you can not help but love it when it's all about you! It is just great. Brastop: What models do you aspire to, and why? Laura: I have never - and never will - follow the modelling industry. I never will aspire to or want to be an existing model. I am happy in my own skin and will make the most of what I have rather than aspiring to be someone I will never be. I think that's why I am so happy. I am happy just being me. Brastop: I always find that Fantasie and Freya tend to get the sizing just right, but I've tried the Curvy Kate range recently and was amazed at the quality and fit. What brands of bra do you normally go for, and why?Laura: I used to go for Freya all of the time because they did one-hook fastening in my size, which I thought was fantastic. I am young and hated the thought of wearing granny bras at 20! But when I found Brastop I discovered other brands that I loved. I now go for Cuvry Kate as I love the fit and look of them - and they offer more support than the Freya one-hook fastening bras. They still make me feel sexy, but are practical too - and they're so reasonable in price. After modelling so many brands they are still my favourite - along with Krisline, which offer a great shape and are so sexy. I find Krisline more night-time than practical day-wear, but the shape they give is fantastic. Brastop: Of all the bras you've modelled for Brastop, which ones do you find work best for you? Laura: Curvy Kate, without a doubt - and that's the truth. Brastop: Of all the photosets you've done as a model, which one do you feel captures you the best? Laura: One of the first shots I ever did for Brastop. It was for the 'Star in a Bra' competition. I was laughing in the picture and I just look like me. It's me all over; happy-go-lucky. I smile every time I see that photo of myself. Brastop: What about other interests outside of work? What do you do to relax of an evening or weekend? Sports? Movies? TV? Travel? Books? Music? Laura: My idea of relaxing is being on the go unless I've got the option of going to a spa for a facial or massage! I am an active girl. I love music, I am addicted to films and whether the cinema or watching a movie in the house with my boyfriend I just love movies. I love reading true life books, telling stories of a child's survival from abuse - which stems for my love of psychology (my degree) and my ambition of becoming an educational psychologist. I love time with my family and family nights out, or in. I dance often and am in the middle of doing my teachers in ballet. I am happy in love, so me and my boyfriend often take little adventures and frequently attend the theatre or concerts. I love to travel - well, to go on nice holidays! I like good food, so I eat out regularly and go to some top restaurants. I like the good things in life but not necessarily to expensive things in life. I just like being busy and being active. Being with my friends and those I love. It makes me happy, but career wise I am always striving for more. Brastop: What's your ultimate tip for our readers when it comes to bras? Any advice you can offer on sizing, style, designs or brands? Laura: Go on to www.brastop.com and look at the fitting videos. They give you all the advice you need. I recorded it and it tells you everything you need to know. It is surprising how many people wear the wrong size and fitted bras. It can be dangerous to your health - so everyone should take a look. It will only take five minutes. The Star in a Bra Competition for 2009 opens on 1 May, so get snapping and send us your entries! Labels: big bras, bra, brastop, interview, laura, star in a bra

Send us your bra disaster stories![]() I certainly have. Only recently, one of my bra straps gave way under sheer stress and I had to spend the morning wearing my gym bra before I could get to Marks and Spencers during my lunch hour. Another time, one of the hooks at the back of a really expensive bra poked through and left me with a half-inch scar when I tried to take it off. I've even had a bikini completely pop off at the poolside in full view of hundreds of holidaymakers, all because it was just plain too small and not strong enough to hold everything in place. Well, Macy's in the USA is running a campaign for shoppers to send in their funniest bra malfunction stories in return for a gift card - which gives me an idea... Add your funny disaster stories by commenting below and I'll post the best ones here on the blog. Don't just wear the right size - wear the right styleYou'll soon find that I'm one for promoting the importance of getting measured properly for a bra - not just to improve your shape - but to help with you posture, your health, and your well-being.However, it's just as important to wear the right style of bra. All too often I find myself getting ready for a night out, only to spend an hour trying out different bra/top/dress combinations and losing my mind with frustration because I'm showing a strap, too much cleavage or my bra ends up showing through on a flimsy top. Gill Hart at Suite 101 has written an informative article on the various different styles of bra, covering most of the major bra shapes/designs and giving some helpful tips on which bra works best with what outfit. As Gill says, once you build up a wardrobe of different bra styles you'll soon see the difference wearing the correct bra makes to your look and self-confidence. Oh - and one excellent bit of advice from Gill: always have a multiway bra in your armoury - they're not always the most comfortable to wear, or the easiest of bras to fasten up, but it'll get you out of a bind when you're really struggling to find something that works with your outfit.

Many of the young girls and mothers living in the local villages of Zimbabwe only have one ragged pair of knickers each, so they often go without - but your unwanted underwear can help them. So far HOTmilk has donated 6,500 brand new pairs of underwear for the project, but now we want you to lend a hand too. All you need to do is go through your underwear drawer and find any items you've never worn before, such as bras and briefs - (no second-hand knickers please!) although, when it comes to bras, we're happy to accept anything that is used or worn, but preferably not falling apart or badly in need of repair.
