Freya Pollyanna: Brastop Blog bra of the week
I’ve only had the Freya Pollyanna caramel bra for two days, and already I know it’s going to be a firm favourite at the top of my underwear drawer, which I wasn’t expecting.
You see, it was a gift, and normally, I wouldn’t have chosen a full-cup bra for myself (I prefer balconette), but I’ve been pleasantly surprised at just how good this bra is.
It’s been a while since I’ve regularly worn a Freya bra (I used to be a big fan of Freya and Fantasie – but most of my recent bras have been Curvy Kate or Flirtelle), but clearly they haven’t stopped making quality underwear.
Often, we get too focused on two main aspects of a bra; the fit/comfort (which is clearly the most important), but also on the look of the bra (which isn’t always the best factor in determining which bras to buy – as they’re rarely seen outside of the bedroom).
Despite its flat, dullish caramel colour of the Freya Pollyanna, it’s a very pretty bra, with a classic floral print on the lower half of the double-lined cups, and embroidered lace across the top half – so while it does tend to scream “practical everyday bra”, it has a touch of simple elegance about it too.
And it’s superbly supportive – this, for me, is bras at their best; a firm underwire, wide, sturdy straps with minimal fussiness – and an all-round snug feel to it. You put it on, it does its job – and it does it remarkably well for such a simple bra.
I wore it all day yesterday – at work, then when I went out later for a quiet meal – under a plain stripy smock top during the day and a dark jumper dress at night. I didn’t feel any need to swap it out for something else in the evening – and I absolutely love the shorts that came with the set – so light and smooth, yet snug-fitting.
I would normally have a criticism for a bra of this kind, but I can’t find one – and given the brand, I know it’ll take a beating and survive washing after washing, simply because it’s made of durable materials and thoroughly well-constructed by one of the best lingerie companies on the market.
You can buy the Freya Pollyanna bra in caramel on the Brastop website for £14.95 – or the full set for just £20.90.

For anybody who loves the Freya Polyanna please note that Polly has a lot of sisters with a very similar cut. Freya Nancy, Latisha, Edith, Faye,… So if you love the fit and the shape of the Polyanna caramel but the colour does nothing for you check out the Latisha.
