Cosmo Spreading the Curvy Love!
I spy with my little eye a curvy beauty on the front cover of this month’s Cosmopolitan magazine! Mad Men star Christina Hendricks is bringing back curves with a vengeance.
The curvy actress oozes confidences and sexy appeal… rocking the bright burning red hair with a figure hugging dress; it’s no wonder she was voted as one of the sexiest women in the world…
Gone are the days of only size 6 models on the cover… Cosmo has taken the curve battle in their own hands (with the help of a-list celebs), paving the way for curvy beauties to shine… I ask myself… when did curves started being sidelined? Why is one of the greatest aspects that defines a woman from a man being stripped down and not considered fashion worthy? Although the media praises her curves we wait patiently for the rest of the modelling industry to follow!
We know the debate of ‘this is a man’s world’ and having to compete for equal rights had a part to play… this forced masculinity into the fashion world making it trendy to dress like a man… women were no longer subjected to wearing skirts and dresses but with the revolution…along came a new trend. Fashion subsided womanly curves as it was a distinctive ‘give-away’ to a woman’s body. Instead, those who were slim and slender was considered easier to disguised and added a sense of ‘flare’ to the ‘boyish’ fashion trend.
With equality knocking on the door of today we are less under pressure to compete with the men of this world… so curves should NO longer be side-lined but celebrated! We want to see more of this modelling industry!
We love celebrating curves here at Brastop… that’s why we run our own modelling competition to celebrate the curves of all out lovely customers… we all come in different shapes and sizes and no shape should be deemed unfashionable or not represented!
